So I decided to take Virgin America for the first time because they had an amazing deal from LA to DC.  Hm…what do I think of it? Well, I got confused and got dropped off at Virgin Atlantic, not Virgin America. So I walked 4 terminals and waited at the gate printed on my ticket only to find it was the wrong gate. I barely rushed to the right gate in time. But the redeeming part of the trip was discovering the Fall Out Boys music video of “I’m Like A Lawyer.” Hm, I thought, when I saw the title. I wasn’t definitely not expecting a video about child abductions in Uganda. I had studied about children being forced to join armies a bit when I was in college – especially Sierra Leone – where children are forced to join the rebel army and are taught to commit such atrocious crime such as rapes and mutilations. I think that’s the saddest part – taking young kids who don’t know any better and forcing them to choose violence – manipulating their still easily impressionable moral barometer. it’s refreshing to know that in the midst of such superficiality in the music industry there’s some substance available out there.

The Fall Out Boys music video is deep.  Check it out and check out invisiblechildren.com.

The video reminded me of my time in Uganda although we didn’t visit the areas being affected by this militant group. I think anything that can promote worthy global causes should be championed. Great post!

I’ve heard good things about Virgin America. What did you think?

It really aches my heart to see this (although I see also the elements of over-dramatizing and sensationalism. That or I must plead guilty of the genetic fallacy that anything MTVish is bad). Life is full of such horrendous, all too real dramas. What can we do??
